How to be an LGBTQ2S+ Ally

As a sex-positive business, we know how vital Pride is for the LGBTQ+ community.

We also know that our business is run from the perspective of a cis-gendered female, meaning we are not here to talk over queer voices. Instead, we’ll use our space to talk about being an ally to the queer community.

Being an ally includes holding space for LGBTQ+ voices and stories, as well as directing your position of privilege to important causes.

The following tips will help you get started as an ally!

Thank you to Ana Valens, who wrote a fantastic Vox article titled, “Here’s what a good LGBTQ ally looks like,” which we’ve relied on to create this content for you.

#1 – Amplify queer experiences: share stories on your platforms and credit the original author.

#2 – Offer financial support. You can check out Rainbow Campaign for crowdfunding specifically for the queer community.

#3 – Understand the adversity LGBTQIA2S+ people face by looking at the intersectionality of social issues with gender and race issues.

#4 – Do more than just show up for Pride. Continue these practices past June, and work to make it a regular part of your discourse.

#5 – Step back and LISTEN. We’ve held centre stage for a long time. Let other people speak!

We are also offering a special for Pride month. Take 20% off your purchase with the promo code Pride2021!
