Rabbit Fun Facts
The Rabbit vibrator was invented in 1983 and was made to look like a rabbit because Japanese manufacturers weren’t actually allowed to make vibrators. By 1983, Lovecraft was 11 years in business and the Rabbit was quite the revelation. Fun and playful, not really phallic and designed for a woman’s pleasure. We knew we had to have it!
Since then the rabbit vibrator has evolved and become a whole genre of sex toys with many different brands and variations in design including ones with a less phallic shape or without the rotating beads section. The device can be used in a variety of ways and for both solo sexual play and during partnered sex. The best quality Rabbit toys will also be made with Silicone or Elastamer, both hypo-allergenic.
Their popularity was boosted in the US after an episode of Sex and the City featured Vibratex’s Rabbit Pearl. Charlotte became addicted and the “girl’s” had to intervene to bring Charlotte back to brunch or Cosmo’s.
Rabbit vibrators are designed to give more intense sensations than the more traditional dildo or clitoral stimulator, by providing simultaneous vaginal and clitoral stimulation. The Rabbit Pearl, the original device, also had a rotating section. Many new Rabbit adopt the dual stimulation but have lost the rotating function. Have you tried the Rabbit, which is your preferred sex toy for women?
